Ciclo biológico: En Canarias, con hasta siete u ocho generaciones superpuestas por año. Las dos épocas de vuelo predominantes son en primavera (mayo-junio) y en otoño (septiembre-octubre). En cultivos de invernadero puede presentar diversas generaciones y estar presente durante gran parte del ciclo del cultivo.

 

Daños: Las larvas polífagas se alimentan preferentemente de plantas jóvenes; sin embargo, los períodos de crecimiento más sensibles son desde el trasplante hasta las primeras etapas foliares, así como durante la floración y fructificación. Puede devorar completamente las hojas y afectar el fruto (pimiento y tomate). En cuanto a ornamentales, los daños estéticos reduce drásticamente el valor en el mercado.

Number of annual generations: normally, there are three generations a year, although depending on the weather conditions, there may be more.

 

Damage: the caterpillar attacks leaves, shoots and buds, although the most important damages consist of destruction of flowers and perforations in the fruit. This facilitates the entry of fungi and other pests that cause them to rot.
